We can help you with all of your career development needs. Utilize us to get information about creating effective resumes and cover letters, understand how to find and apply to internships and jobs, and benefit from interview coaching.
Video-taped mock interviews are practice interviews conducted by a career services staff member. They are available on a first- come first-served basis and are scheduled for one hour. During the first 30 minutes you will be interviewed by a staff member and during the final 30 minutes you will review and discuss your interview.
WHAT IS A RESUME? A marketing document focused on your strengths.
Your resume is an opportunity to communicate your value to potential employers and entice them to invite you for an interview. A resume is an essential component of virtually any job search. It often forms the first, and if poorly written, the last impression on an employer. Employers are likely to spend just a few seconds reviewing your resume to decide whether to give a thorough read, so it is important to craft a document that helps put you and your skills above the competition.
WHAT IS A COVER LETTER? It details your fit for a particular position, focused on what you can do for the organization.
A cover letter should always accompany a resume, whether it is requested or not. It provides depth to your resume, highlighting your strongest qualifications FOR A PARTICULAR POSITION, and stressing how you can meet the employer's needs. An effective cover letter is well-written, captures the employer's attention, and ultimately convinces the employer you are a qualified candidate that deserves an interview.
